Dog Adult Size Calculator
Estimated Adult Weight

Note: This is a rough estimate. See 'How It Works' for details.
How to Use the Dog Adult Size Calculator
Estimate your puppy's potential adult weight using this calculator. Enter your puppy's:
- Current Age (in days, weeks, or months)
- Current Weight (in kg or lbs)
The calculator will provide an estimated adult weight based on a common growth formula. Remember this is an estimate.
How the Calculator Works
This calculator estimates your puppy's adult weight using a modified approach based on their current growth rate:
- Calculate Average Weekly Gain: It first determines the average weight your puppy has gained each week so far (
Current Weight / Current Age in Weeks
). - Estimate Remaining Growth: It calculates the number of weeks remaining until 52 weeks (
52 - Current Age
). It then estimates the total weight the puppy might gain in this remaining period. To account for growth slowing down, this estimated future gain is slightly reduced (damped) compared to a pure linear projection based on the initial average weekly gain. - Final Estimate: The estimated adult weight is the puppy's
Current Weight
plus theEstimated Remaining Growth
.
Essentially, it projects future growth based on past growth but applies a factor to acknowledge that puppies don't maintain their peak growth rate indefinitely.
Important Note: This remains a rough estimate. Actual adult size depends on many factors including genetics, nutrition, health, and specific breed growth patterns. Smaller breeds tend to reach their adult size faster (around 8-12 months), while giant breeds can continue growing for 18-24 months. This formula is generally more indicative for younger puppies and may still overestimate for breeds that mature faster or underestimate for giant breeds.
Interpreting the Results
The result provided is an estimation of your dog's weight when fully grown (around 1-2 years, depending on breed size). Use this as a guideline, not a definitive prediction.
- Consult Your Vet: For the most accurate prediction and health advice, always consult your veterinarian. They can assess your puppy's individual growth curve and health status.
- Monitor Growth: Track your puppy's weight regularly and compare it to breed-specific growth charts if available.
